If you have any other great ideas that I've missed here - please let me know so I can add it to this list!
Last year I started a list of books I was reading, but forgot about it and only kept track of probably the first half of the year - maybe less. Either way, I'm sure I didn't make it to 50 books, and I would like to make that my goal for 2013. Check out Mama Owl's site for a link up of other bloggers with the same goal.
In the past few months, I've collected a bunch of random ideas for activities and traditions for Christmas. Here are the ones I'm particularly fond of, and would like to try at least once, maybe :)
My husband's family didn't really do stockings when he was a kid, but it was a really big deal in my family. We often got more into the 'stocking' part of gift opening than we did any of the other gifts. I remember my parents going so crazy buying stocking stuffers that we would have our stockings hanging on the banister - as well as an extra shopping bag hanging next to it! My Mom in particular was a brilliant stocking stuffer - and she paid such close attention throughout the year, that I would often find things in my stocking that I was shocked she had even remembered! When my husband and I got married, I informed him that he must become a stocking expert also, because I wouldn't be getting stockings from Mom forever - but I didn't want this particular tradition to die!
This began as a Toddle Along Tuesday theme, and I found that over the next few days I was hearing myself say other odd things that probably never would have occurred to me prior to being a parent as being necessary things to say. Here they are, as they come to me...
Here is a list of books I would like to read outloud to/with my children. I got this idea from Pinterest, and it came from the blog 'Grasping for Objectivity' which you can check out here.
This list began as a blog post, and I realized that it was the kind of thing I would like to continue to build on. This is for me to keep track of my favourite things when it comes to 'stuff' I use for my daughters, as well as a list for me to keep in mind when buying baby gifts for friends, etc.
In case anyone is interested, here are some of the books I spend reading during the stolen 'me time' I snag - usually while I'm having a bath :)
Today's Summer Blog Challenge post topic is on Bucket Lists. For those of you who don't know - and haven't seen the movie :) - a Bucket List is a list of things you would like to do before you 'kick the bucket'. Check out the 'Bucket List for Kids' post in my Lists section... which is not a 'before you die' list, but a list of things all children should do while they are still children!
I have been collecting activity ideas for toddlers. Some require more preparation than others, but some are extremely simple and use only basic household items that you more than likely have lying around. For many of these activities, it helps to talk about what you are doing with your child - teaching them colours, shapes and directions. This list is not overly long at the moment, but I am continuously adding to it. Have Fun, and I'd love to hear some ideas from you, or feedback on some of these ideas if you've tried them!
